Living in the Philippines is hard. "Isang kahig, Isang Tuka" - the usual words I can hear to people who are not wealthy and indeed eats one meal a day.
That is why the students who are entering college nowadays are taking up courses that will help them to get out of this place to find a greener pasture abroad especially United States… I want to live there, especially in San Diego. And today there are a lot of San Diego Homes for Sale! (I wish I could buy one… tsk tsk tsk…). United States is the land of milk and honey, a first world country, and by far one of the best place to live and raise a family… And those students chose a medical career that is really in demand not just in the United States but also the rest of the world. (I am one of those students who took nursing as a career.)
As a nurse, I also want to live and work in the States. It's not that I don't love my country, it's for my future's sake! I just want to make money to raise a family in the future. There are a lot of opportunities that are waiting for everyone there! And all you need to do is to cope with everything there, the weather, the people, the culture. Next is to establish yourself there, and lastly be thrifty and you're bound for a good harvest!
Yeah! When time comes that you have earned good dollars, you can go home here in the Phily and live here na for good! It’s just so hard living here nowadays…

I know what you mean. My sister is a nurse and my family is hoping she will be able to make it to the States someday. I also wish to live there but it’s really difficult if you have no close relatives to help you out.
It’s more for practicality’s sake. Not that we don’t love our country.
