Yesterday, I encountered a problem regarding the traffic light scheme of Davao City…
Here's the story…
I was in front of Ateneo de Davao University waiting for the traffic light signaling that you can walk already in the pedestrian lane… So there I waited… And waited… And waited!!! "What's the matter with this stuff?", I asked myself… "I am still standing here for a minute and a half and still no signal to pass!".
I believe it is fully functioning, seeing that the red light with a shape of a human hand telling you that you still can't use the pedestrian is in tact and very bright in its red color! lol. But still, I waited. I don't want to be crashed by a car or a jeep in front of a well established institution! It is shameful! While waiting in vain, I saw a student passing by the pedestrian eventhough it says/signals "do not walk". I was really impressed that he made it through the other side with no bruises and even more, I was in a state of shock! In shock that the traffic lights in that particular site is still not working! hahaha. I cannot help but giggle!
It has been three months since all the traffic lights Davaowide have been installed and until now, only few sites are fully functional! Mayor Duterte, will you please help us your fellow Dabawenyos!? For crying out loud! I beg you… Even I have been victimized by a false alarm traffic light. I know that it has a great usage, and I hope that it can be fully functional by the time Araw ng Dabaw arrives. What's the use of having traffic lights when you can't use it?! A display of the work you've done? Come on!
lol… Hopefully it’ll be! Greener for you and for me either!
Hey think about this. Good thing that the traffic light did not change to Walk then Stop again while you’re in the middle of the street.
Hehehe Just kidding — reminded me of Rainman … heheh
Posted by john at March 15, 2007, 11:59 amhey that happened to me once or twice…
nakakainis nga! hehe
Uh…Just have to ask: Did you push that “Push To Cross” button? It’s my theory that the pedestrian signal won’t change if someone doesn’t push that thingy. Although I do have my doubts as to the functionality of that thing.
Although I do admit, it feels a bit stupid and unnerving to be a goody-two-shoes and follow traffic signals when everyone else around you just does as they please. Sana naman may humuli din sa mga jaywalkers, para di naman magmukhang tanga yung mga tulad ko na sumusunod sa batas. GRR!
Posted by adobobo at March 21, 2007, 12:20 amhaha! eh yun nga ang problem eh… There was no push thingy… Nandun sa kabila yun eh… Nasa Parking Lot kasi ako nakatayo at naghihintay…
OO nga dapat hulihin sila kasi nakakakainis, pati ikaw nakikisabay na lang…
Posted by janusrichardronimo at March 21, 2007, 8:51 amAh I see, mao mao… Basi para decoration lang ni atong mga pedestrian traffic signals, para ingnon kuyaw ang Davao ba–hi-tech ang traffic management system, naa pa jud orchid-orchid na lightposts sa tunga sa dalan! XP

A traffic light is like my life. There’s a lot of red signals that signify that my life isn’t moving forward yet… hehehe I’m optimistic that this year will be Greener!
